All slow cookers work best when they are at least half, to three-quarters full when they start cooking. So it is important you get the right capacity for your needs. Shape is another consideration, I find oval crock pots seem to take up more room, but that depends if the shelf you are storing it on is wide or deep. Having said that this round Rival slow cooker is large enough to accommodate a 6lb roast, so shape is less important in a larger capacity slow cooker like this one.

This Rival 6 Quart Crock Pot comes with an instruction book that contains recipes, and a one-year limited warranty. If you have had a smaller slow cooker before, there is a good chance you are going to need to adapt your recipes and cooking times to work in the larger Rival 6 Quart Crock Pot.

If you have 3 quart slow cooker recipes, you can easily double the quantities of meat in stew, braise and casserole recipes, but only increase the amount of liquids, seasonings, dried herbs and spices by half. The recipe is thickened with cornstarch (or similar) do not increase it at the beginning. It is better to thicken the dish later, if required. You will find that you will use your Rival Slow Cooker Crock Pot more than you think you will because it is so convenient to fill it up in the morning and come home to a ready to serve meal.
